This incense is crafted by famous Butanese factory "Nado Poizokhang" — one of the leading incense makers in Bhutan. "Nado" products of are famous by the purity of ingredients used and the careful preparation process. It is one of oldest and the largest hand-made incense manufacturers in Bhutan.
This incense is called "Drib Sang", and belongs to the class of "sang" or incense powder. It contains saffron, red and white sandalwood and other medicinal plants and herbs. The incense is made with the greatest care and in strict accordance with the ancient traditional method.
Many of these ingredients grow at more than 4000 m in the Himalayas. Collecting is undertaken by yak herders as they move their herds up and down the mountains searching for summer and winter pastures as well as families who live permanently high in the remote Himalayas.
It is believed that offering these incense sticks invites divine beings to bestow blessings on beings and the environment. It also pacifies unseen obstacle makers. Also, beings of the lower realms such as pretas (hungry ghosts) will be satisfied because the smoke acts as a special food for them. Burning this incense is therefore an excellent way to invoke blessings and purify obstacles.
It can be burnt at any time, however, it is particularly designated to be used it in the morning.
