This real painted thangka (tib.: ཐང་ཀ་) of Medicine Buddha also known as Bhaiṣajyaguru or Menlha (tib. sman lha) was painted by old Tibetan family living in Kathmandu.
Bhaiṣajyaguru or Bhaiṣajya-guru-vaiḍūrya-prabhā-rāja, what literally means "King of Medicine Master and Lapis Lazuli Light", is the Buddha of healing and medicine in Mahāyāna Buddhism. Commonly named as "Medicine Buddha". He is described as a doctor who cures all the sufferings using the medicine of his teachings.
